What do you do?

Capitaljunk.ca specializes in removing non-hazardous unwanted materials/items from residential and commercial properties. We service Metropolitan Ottawa and its surrounding area. We remove almost anythiing from ANYWHERE it's located on your property.

Our rates include all labour, loading of the materials, necessary clean up and all disposal/recycling fees...no hidden costs! We provide all of our customers with an up-front written estimate before any work begins.

Can you dispose of Emerald Ash wood?

No we cannot. Due to the Emerald ash infestation we are unable to move or dispose of any ash wood until further notice. For more information on the effected areas please check the map below and visit Goverment of Canada web site for updates.

What type of trucks are in your fleet?

The teams drive new model GMC 5500 HD Dump Trucks. Our vehicles are fully insured and properly registered with the M.O.E (Ministry of the Environment) and the C.V.O.R (Commercial Vehcile Operator's Registration).

Are you insured?

Yes. Our trucks and labourers are fully licensed and insured in case of accidental damage or injury. Our drivers are insured as well and have experience in driving large scale vehicles. Capital Junk is licensed by the Ministry of Environment. This means we can legally haul away residential and commercial junk. Also, we are registered with the C.V.O.R (Commercial Vehicle Operator's Registration) which enables us to operate commercial trucks.

What type of junk do you remove?

We remove anything that can be lifted by two people and is non-hazardous in Ottawa and the surrounding areas. A few examples of what we remove are:

Furniture - couches, sofa-beds, mattresses, chairs, desks, filing cabinets, tables
Appliance removal - refrigerators, freezers, washers/dryers, dishwashers, microwaves
Cellar, loft and garage items - boxes, books, tools, clothes, bicycles, lawn mowers, cardboard, tires
Garden refuse - branches, grass, leaves, soil, sod, compost, turf
Wood - fencing, firewood, lumber, plywood, gates
Construction/ demolition - plaster, drywall, broken patio, pallet, crate, glass, concrete, empty paint cans
Roofing / Flooring - tiles, asphalt, carpet, wood, hard wood/ceramic flooring, shingles
Electronics - televisions, computers, printers, fax machines, stereos

We are unable to remove hazardous materials including paint, chemicals, motor oils, asbestos, propane tanks or medical-related waste. Please call our office if you have any questions or require further clarification. If you have materials that we cannot accept, we will do our very best to assist you with finding an alternative environmentally sound solution.

Why can't you take hazardous materials?

Unfortunately, our trucks are not licensed or insured to carry hazardous materials. We are properly registered with the Ministry of the Environment to haul non-hazardous materials legally.

You can call your local recycling or waste management company or the City of Ottawa for further assistance on removal for this type of debris.

I have an old shed to get rid of. Can your staff break it down for me?

With adequate notice, our staff can come to your location with the proper tools and 'break down' items like an old shed or playground equipment. We would be happy to provide this service at no extra cost.

Do you offer a discount for Seniors?

Yes we do. We are proud to offer all seniors, 65 years and over, 10% off any size junk removal.

Do you provide moving services?

No. We are not insured to move personal belongings nor are our trucks properly equipped to provide this service. We can, however, move items from one room to another on the same site for a small additional charge. Please call our office to inquire further.

Does Capital Junk recycle and donate?

We certainly do! We are proud to live and work in Ottawa and strongly belive in supporting our community. This is one of the biggest aspects of our service. Not only does Capital Junk take away those unwanted items you are tired of looking at, we also dispose of them in a way that is environmentally friendly.

We seperate and recycle items such as metal, wood, cardboard and plastic and donate the more usable items to local Ottawa charities. Capital Junk has taken a positive stand towards helping the environment and reducing the amounts of damaging substances that can, over time, be harmful to us all!

How do you charge?

We charge by volume, not by how long it takes us to remove your junk. It depends on how much space your items takes up in our truck. Our trucks are one of the largest in the industry but not our prices. You will find our rates are very competitive and lower then many of our competitors.

Our prices include all the hauling, loading, clean-up and disposal...no hidden fees!

Why can't you give me an exact price over the phone?

Our rates are based on how much space your items will take up on our truck. Sizes vary so until we see what is to be removed, we can't provide you with an exact price. We are only able to give an rough estivate over the phone.

Upon the arrival of our team, simply indicate what you would like us to remove and a representative will assess the amount of junk and provide you with a FREE, no-obligation quote.. If you're pleased with the quote the team is prepared to begin the job right away!

How much notice do you require?

In most instances we can be out to your location within a 24-48 hour time frame. Often the same day if you are located in the metropolitian Ottawa-Hull area . If you are looking to get your junk removed on a specific day and time, please give us a call or book on-line to schedule.

Capital Junk always does their best to accomodate their customers on short notice.

Why are appointments booked in two-hour windows?

We take great pride in being on time to every appointment but we must allow for unforeseen circumstances such as traffic or jobs that were larger than expected. Appointments are booked in two-hour slots to allow for this.

The truck team will call 15 to 30 minutes prior to their arrival to let you know they are on their way and when you can expect them.

Do I have to be at the property to have the job done?

Not always.

Provided we can access your materials and have a solid understanding as to what needs to be removed, we will call you once on site with an exact quote. If you have us proceed we'll process your credit card remotely upon completion. A copy of the quote, invoice and receipt will either be left in the mail box or mailed to a secondary location for you.

How big is your truck?

Our trucks are one of the largest in the industry. They can hold up to 20 cubic yards or 400 cubic feet. The dimensions of our bins are: 13.5 ft. (L) x 8 ft. (W) x 5 ft. (H).

What equipment does your junk truck come with?

Aside from our 2 uniformed team members, our trucks come equipped with a dolly, garbage bags, brooms, shovel and various small tools to ensure that your junk is removed in a safe and efficient manner.

For added safety of our staff, hard hats, gloves, and construction vests are provided in the vehicle and it is manditory that all employees wear steel toed boots.

What do you do with the junk?

Capital Junk believes strongly in helping the environment. A large percentage of the material removed from homes and businesses is either taken to a recycling centre or donated to local Ottawa charities. The remaining material is disposed of at a transfer station for further processing and recycling.

We are proudly part of the City of Ottawa's Take It Back! Program. A great program where households can take used, 'hard to dispose of items' back to retailers and organizations who in turn reuses, recycles or disposes of them properly instead of going into local landfills.

What do you do with the stuff you pick up ??

Capital Junk is a company who has taken a positive stand towards helping the environment. Any good, quality household or office items, such as furniture, books, clothing, pictures, and so on are donated to local Ottawa charities; metal is separated and recycled as well as any paper and cardboard that we collect. We are also able to recycle wood and old car tires.

Where is your company located?

Our corporate office is located right here in Ottawa, Ontario. Our truck fleet servies all of Greater Metropolitan Ottawa and its surrounding areas.

Why use your service instead of a disposal bin?

We do all the hauling, loading and clean up for you and our charges reflect only the volume of junk we remove. We only charge for what we take away.

In most instances, when you rent a bin you have to pay for the entire volume, regardless of how much space you utilize. In many cases, others will throw junk into your bin leaving you with the cost of disposal. Our prices remain competitive with disposal bins, we recycle a lot more and provide all the labour!
